Art, Artists and Galleries: The natural beauty and spectacular light of New Mexico, as well as its vibrant cultural heritage, have attracted artists for decades. Today, people from around the globe travel to New Mexico to experience some of the world’s finest art.

Billy the Kid National Scenic Byway: Many of the area’s terrific attractions are found along the Billy the Kid National Scenic Byway. This driving loop circles much of the county, allowing visitors the chance to see a wide range of local topography, attractions, historic and artistic venues.

Camping and Hiking: Almost all of the system trails in the Lincoln National Forest are easily negotiated by hikers and back packers as well as horse riders and mountain bikers.

Fishing & Hunting: For the avid angler, local streams and lakes are stocked at different times of the year with rainbow trout. The Lincoln National Forest which surrounds Ruidoso offers more than one million acres of enjoyment. Big game hunting opportunities abound. Deer, elk, bear and turkey are the most sought after game.

Golf: Soak up some sun at one of the area’s three public golf courses. An added advantage of the courses in Ruidoso is that they are open year ‘round!

Horse Racing: Who would imagine that the most dramatic moments in Quarter horse racing take place in a scenic mountaintop location in south central New Mexico? Yet this is exactly what happens, year after year, at the famous Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino!

Museums: History is such an amazing part of the Ruidoso area. There are many exceptional museums here. All are prepared to take you on an unforgettable journey through time.

Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center: For more than 67 years, the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce has been the voice of the business community, With 9,000 residents, Ruidoso is the largest community in Lincoln County and serves as the regional economic hub.

Ski Apache is located on the north ridge of 12,003’ Sierra Blanca Peak, overlooking the mountain community of Ruidoso. Ski Apache allows both skiing and snowboarding and has a terrain park with both jumps and rails.
